Health Benefits of Chia
This continuing education course provides an overview of chia’s history and nutrient composition, reviews current research regarding the health benefits of chia seeds, and offers strategies RDs can use to advise clients about chia seeds.
Learning Objectives
After completing this continuing education course, nutrition professionals should be better able to:
- Identify three unique characteristics of chia seeds.
- Evaluate the research surrounding chia seeds with respect to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, weight loss, certain skin conditions, and exercise performance.
- Develop individualized recommendations for advising clients on the use of chia seeds.
- Provide three ways to use chia seeds in foods.
