Symposium Session: Today's Food Conversation: What Messages Should We Be Communicating About Strawberries?
Every day our food conversations are becoming more interesting, intense, and challenging. Consumers are working on wellness, pondering plant-based, suffering from stress, and striving for sustainability.
This presentation will examine commonly used marketing terms related to food, agriculture, and nutrition, providing insights into the science that supports or refutes claims, and shedding light on consumer understanding and acceptance of these terms. One food that’s often misunderstood and maligned is California strawberry. Many don’t know the story or science behind this special berry, and a mixed message is sometimes communicated. Attendees of this session will walk away with a better understanding not only about strawberries, but also how to engage in more meaningful conversations about complex issues that are as affected by research and science as they are by values and emotion.
This is not a webinar or course for purchase - this is a module for credit claiming for our 2023 Spring Symposium attendees and cannot be purchased or taken by non-attendees. These sessions are exclusive to our Symposium; however, the topics may be revisited in the future in the form of a webinar or self-study course.
