Recorded Symposium Session: From Sunrise to Sunset: Practical Culinary and Tech Solutions for Better Sleep

Adequate sleep is at the foundation of good health but nearly a third of Americans are not getting enough sleep every night. From the moment we wake up in the morning until our heads hit the pillow at night, there are countless choices we can make to set ourselves up for better sleep. In this session, RDs will learn about practical culinary approaches to help improve sleep, including recipe inspiration and useful technologies that assist with and provide an accurate sleep assessment. Help clients navigate back to better sleep while simultaneously improving other areas of health!

Learning Objectives

After attending this session, nutrition professionals should be able to:

  1. Discuss the importance of sleep as it relates to physical performance, the prevention of chronic disease, and the promotion of mental well-being.
  2. Identify key nutritional considerations and dietary changes to improve sleep.
  3. Understand and recommend new tools/instruments to help track sleep quality and quantity.

Dana Angelo White, MS, RD, ATC, is a registered dietitian, certified athletic trainer, cookbook author, journalist, and nutrition and fitness consultant. She specializes in culinary nutrition and sports nutrition. She is the nutrition expert for Food Network.com and founding contributor for Food Network’s Healthy Eats blog.   

Dana is the sports dietitian and associate clinical professor of Athletic Training and Sports Medicine at Quinnipiac University. She is a member of the USOC Sports Dietitian Registry and National Athletic Trainers’ Association liaison to SCAN.
