Symposium Session: ABCs for Successful Dietetics Careers in Agriculture, Business, and Communications

This is not a webinar or course for purchase - this is a module for credit claiming for our 2021 Spring Symposium attendees and cannot be purchased or taken by non-attendees. These sessions are exclusive to our Symposium; however, the topics may be revisited in the future in the form of a webinar or self-study course.

Career opportunities for dietetics professionals have expanded exponentially in the last decade. No longer do interns or early career RDNs need to follow advice from “out-of-touch” academics, preceptors, and mentors who tout job opportunities only in clinical or public health settings. There’s so much more!

In this session, Carol Sloan, RDN, FAND, will provide an overview of the latest career opportunities within dietetics, sharing case studies of successful professionals who, when carving out their career paths, looked forward and outside traditional jobs. Tips on integrity, professionalism, credibility, and networking will be shared.

Learning Objectives

After attending this session, nutrition professionals should be able to:

  1. Identify the changing roles and emerging job possibilities in the dietetics field.
  2. Recognize and detail the skill and attributes an aspiring dietitian needs to be successful.
  3. Extrapolate data from the case studies discussed and implement these approached with confidence in your own daily practice.
