Webinar: Eating in the Age of GLP-1: How Weight Loss Medications are Reshaping Food Culture
As the cultural conversation about weight shifts from calorie counting to brain biology and metabolic wellness, registered dietitian nutritionists are at the center of a rapidly changing food landscape being shaped by the growing use of GLP-1 medications.
With millions of Americans now using semaglutide, tirzepatide, and related therapies, RDNs are encountering new patterns of appetite suppression, food aversions, reduced portion tolerance, digestive sensitivities, and changing attitudes toward alcohol, indulgence, and social eating. The growing adoption of GLP-1s is having a significant impact on the food industry, with new product innovations focused on protein, fiber, portion control, and nutrient density.
Join Janet Helm, MS, RDN, on Wednesday, May 27, from 1-2 p.m. ET, for a timely webinar that will explore how GLP-1 medications are influencing consumer eating behaviors and fueling new food and beverage trends in retail and restaurants. Janet will also address how RDNs are seizing new opportunities in business and communications. This webinar will equip RDNs with the clinical insight, trend intelligence, and communication strategies needed to counsel patients effectively, engage with food industry partners, and lead the GLP-1 conversation with authority.
Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, nutrition professionals will better be able to:
- Describe the multiple ways GLP-1 medications influence appetite, change food preferences and eating behaviors, and increase nutritional risks.
- Identify food and beverage innovations shaped by GLP-1 consumer demand, including high-protein formats, portion-controlled packaging, and digestive-friendly fiber, along with the increased focus on nutrient density, satiety, and hydration.
- Counsel RDNs on how to position themselves as trusted advisors in the GLP-1 era across clinical, retail, and media settings.
