During this interactive webinar, Michele will unveil compelling research highlighting the importance of behaviors associated with the Mediterranean lifestyle that extends beyond mere nutrition and encompasses physical activity and the act of cooking and eating together. Drawing on recent studies, she will demonstrate the significant correlation between wellbeing and shared meals, offering insights into integrating these elements into today's modern society. Ellie will provide actionable strategies for dietitians to infuse joy, conviviality, and connection into nutrition assessment and patient intervention. She will also explore methodologies to overcome common barriers to communal dining while fostering a positive attitude toward shared cooking experiences.

Learning Objectives

After completing this contuing education activity, health care professionals will better be able to:

  1. Understand the new scientific evidence behind the impact cooking, shared meals, and togetherness in the kitchen has on wellbeing.
  2. Identify common barriers when guiding patients to prioritize cooking and shared meals and develop strategies to overcome these barriers
  3. Integrate the concept of shared meals and togetherness into the assessment and intervention plans for patients.

Ellie Krieger, RDN, well known from her hit Food Network show “Healthy Appetite,” and host and executive producer of the cooking series “Ellie’s Real Good Food” on public television, is a New York Times bestselling, International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP), and two-time James Beard Foundation award winning author of seven cookbooks. She is a weekly columnist for The Washington Post and host of the podcast “One Real Good Thing.” Ellie is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who earned her bachelor’s in clinical nutrition from Cornell University and her master’s in nutrition education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Michele Lefebvre, RDN, is Barilla America's Nutrition and Wellbeing Manager, where she blends her Italian-American heritage with her passion for nutrition and wellbeing. As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, she drives nutrition research and communications initiatives, collaborating closely with the Barilla Global Nutrition and Wellbeing team to set strategic goals and implement programs worldwide. With previous experience as a lecturer, consultant, and researcher, Michele has been a leading advocate for nutritional awareness. Throughout her career, she has empowered individuals through education, consulting for various companies, and contributing to product development and health branding.
