Nutrition for Muscle Building
This continuing education course provides an overview of the physiology of muscle protein synthesis and gives a detailed plan for issuing protein recommendations based on individual needs, the role of other nutrients in muscle growth, and current factors and diet trends, including how they can impact protein intake. Finally, it explains the role of dietitians in providing the best support for their clients.

Learning Objectives
After completing this continuing education course, nutrition professionals should be better able to:
- Distinguish between the roles of protein and carbohydrates in muscle building.
- Apply pre- and postexercise nutrition prescriptions for clients to maximize muscle building potential.
- Explain the role of leucine and other essential amino acids in muscle protein synthesis.
- Calculate protein needs based on age, weight, and activity.
