Webinar: The Science of Satiety and Satisfaction: Key Concepts and Implications for Cardiometabolic Health (Part 1)

Appetite regulation, satiety, and satisfaction are fundamental concepts that influence food choices, sustainable eating patterns, and cardiometabolic health. Understanding how these factors shape eating behaviors can help empower individuals seeking practical nutrition strategies that support long-term behavior change and overall well-being.
In Part 1 of this two-part webinar series, join Wendy Bazilian, DrPH, MA, RDN, and Sabrina Falquier, MD, CCMS, DipABLM, on Thursday, September 10, from 2-3:30 p.m. ET, as they explore the science of satiety and satisfaction. This powerhouse speaker duo will discuss the roles of appetite regulation, meal composition, sensory experience, and key satiety-inducing nutrients, including fiber and healthy fats, that also impact cardiometabolic health. Participants will examine emerging research on foods like avocados that may help promote satiety while supporting blood sugar management and weight management. Through evidence-based insights and real-world examples, clinicians will leave with an improved understanding of the “why” behind satisfying, nourishing meals and how members of the interdisciplinary care team can apply these concepts to support patient care.
Learning Objectives
After completing this continuing education activity, health care professionals will better be able to:
- Define how satiety, satisfaction, and appetite regulation apply in patient care for cardiometabolic health.
- Explain the role of hormones (including GLP-1, PYY, and insulin), and sensory, social, and behavioral factors that influence appetite, hunger, and food intake.
- Counsel clients on how dietary factors that promote satiety and meal satisfaction, such as inclusion of fiber and unsaturated fats, may also influence cardiometabolic health, including outcomes related to type 2 diabetes and weight management.
- Identify foods, such as avocados, that contain beneficial nutrients and describe how they may enhance satiety and support cardiometabolic health.
- Describe the value and roles of the interdisciplinary care team in supporting nutrition education and cardiometabolic health.
*Join us for Part 2 of the series, “Bringing Satiety and Satisfaction to the Plate: Practical Strategies for Cardiometabolic Care and Behavior Change,” on Thursday, October 15. Read more about Part 2’s focus on the practical application of the concepts of satiety and satisfaction and their relevance to effective cardiometabolic care.
