Recorded Webinar: Interprofessional Updates for Diabetes and Telehealth: A Clinician’s Guide to Equitable and Collaborative Care

This webinar took place on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 2-3:30 p.m. ET.

Telehealth, including the use of  continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in the virtual environment and distance learning, are vitally important clinical management tools that may foster improved health outcomes for people living with diabetes. In order to be effective, embracing telehealth and CGM use in distance learning requires an understanding of not only the technology but also – and maybe moreso – the barriers to optimal impact across communities. As health care professionals, how can we provide evidence based and equitable care for people with diabetes who have previously been skeptical of physicians, specialists, and other members of the health care team?

Join James R. Gavin III, MD, PhD, and Susan Weiner, MS, RDN, CDCES, FADCES, for a webinar that will discuss the latest clinical diabetes guidelines and how to translate them into practice across all communities. This dynamic interprofessional duo will educate you on how to incorporate the latest clinical recommendations into practice using an inclusive approach to care.

Learning Objectives

After attending this session, health care professionals and clinicians should be able to:

  1. Describe the latest clinical and nutrition diabetes guidelines and translate them into actionable clinical practices.
  2. Understand the concept of inequity in quality of care and strategize how to encourage clients with diabetes to seek health care.
  3. Counsel clients on how the effective use of telehealth, distance learning, and CGM may improve self-efficacy in people with diabetes.
