Advancing MRI Education Through Simulation Technology

This session introduces learners to MRI simulation as a powerful educational tool for mastering the principles of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Instead of relying on static diagrams or limited scanner access, participants engage with interactive simulation environments that visually demonstrate how MRI physics—such as relaxation, gradients, k-space, and reconstruction—shape image formation. Through hands-on parameter manipulation, learners observe in real time how TR, TE, flip angle, bandwidth, and other settings influence contrast, SNR, and artifacts. The session also highlights how artifact simulation strengthens critical thinking by linking image imperfections to their physical causes. By simplifying complex concepts and enabling safe, repeatable experimentation, MRI simulation provides a more intuitive, engaging, and accessible pathway for students, technologists, and educators to build deep, lasting MRI competence.

Learning Objectives

  1. Develop and demonstrate foundational MRI knowledge through interactive MRI simulation.
  2. Apply parameter manipulation to explore image contrast, timing, and scan performance.
  3. Develop diagnostic reasoning through artifact recognition in simulated environments.
