Demystifying MR Data Acquisition

This presentation provides a practical overview of how MRI data are acquired and transformed into clinical images. Participants will learn the functions of the slice, phase, and readout gradients, the role of k-space in image formation, and how changes in data acquisition affect scan time, image quality, resolution, and artifacts. The session will help attendees better understand the relationship between MR physics and everyday imaging practice.

Learning Objectives

  1. State the three main functions of the gradient coils during data acquisition.
  2. Describe which components of k-space affect the MR images contrast and spatial resolution.
  3. Explain the pros and cons of the various fast scanning techniques.
