Hi everyone,
I found this course to be incredibly interesting. Men are often overlooked as having eating disorders and this piece really highlighted that.
I'm wondering what barriers you tend to encounter when treating male patients with eating disorders?

EDs in Men - Response
I find that it's tough to tailor treatment to men in specific populations - like LGBTQ, for example. This is a barrier that I have not yet found a solution for when treating men with EDs.

Understanding diagnostic criteria
I think it's so critical how this piece highlights the barriers to getting a diagnosis as well as the risk factors that often arise for men. Understanding and being up to date on diagnostic criteria is a great baseline for practitioners and more regular screening can help catch men who may struggle with eating disorders.

Great tips on screening for/recognizing when ED may be present
I agree that EDs in men are often overlooked and therefore signs indicating an ED may be missed when screening and/or counseling patients. I think the overview of assessment tools are especially useful for clinicians that may not be specialized in ED counseling. Making it more likely that they'll be able to recognize when a patient may be struggling with an ED and refer to the appropriate provider, if/when needed.
